In 1952, a devoted servant of the Lord, Reverend S. C. Chambers, pitched his tent on Albert Street in Greer and began a courageous evangelistic struggle to win souls to the Lord Jesus and the Church of God. At the end of his revival, the Reverend H. L. Whittington, State Overseer of the Churches of God in South Carolina, organized the Greer Church of God. Reverend Linwood Jacobs was appointed as the first pastor the newly organized church. Since then, Greer Church of God has had many annointed Pastors serving the Greer Community.
God has wonderfully blessed until not only has the Greer Church of God has grown spiritually, numerically, and financially, but our love for Jesus and the lost for whom He died has reached into several other communities, assisting the beginning of other Church of God congregations.
Over the years, there have been many spirit-filled individuals who have contributed to the growth and well-being of our church, whom only the Lord can justifiably reward. However, we will always be grateful for their services and sacrifices, which make everything we do today possible.
To God Be All The Glory!
